What is Alma Harmony XL Pro DPL Light Therapy?
DPL stands for Dynamic Pulsed Light, but you may have also heard of it referred to as a “photo-facial.” It’s a type of light therapy used to treat wrinkles, spots, acne and spider veins.
DPL is advanced method of IPL that uses the light ( wide range of the light spectrum) in a controlled intensity over the skin and the light is half a quotient absorbed by the pigment in skin.
DPL is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve the appearance of the skin, treat specific skin concerns. It targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers of skin (epidermis). It is a perfect choice for treating all forms of sun damage, reddened faces, ageing skin concerns and it particularly used in the process of healing pigmentation and acne (which occurs at all ages particularly for the teenagers now). Treatments can be given on almost any area of the body.
Harmony Features
Alma Harmony XL PRO (Special Edition) combines a full spectrum of advanced technologies with excellent clinical results creating complete aesthetic harmony.
How does DPL work?
DPL works much like lasers do, but with less recovery time and initial discomfort. Dynamic Pulsed Light therapy works by delivering light wavelengths deep into the skin in areas of concern in order to alter them.
DPL Laser is gentle for the top layer of skin, since the light can penetrate the dermis (deeper skin tissue) without actually affecting the epidermis (top layer). This means there is far less downtime with DPL and minimum the recovery time.
What does DPL treat?
Dynamic Pulsed Light therapy can be used for a number of wide-ranging skin conditions.
Among them are:
- Dark spots.
- Rough skin texture.
- Uneven skin tone.
- Freckles.
- Fine lines and wrinkles.
- Vascular lesions like port wine stains, broken facial veins, rosacea, and more.
At BeautyPlus+ Laser Clinic we use the most advanced and popular DPL device ALMA® Harmony XL Pro DPL machine – a revolutionary device that achieves amazing results in rejuvenation/collagen production & broken capillaries/rosacea.
NIR Face & Body
Main Benefits: Skin Tightening & Brightening
The NIR module uses a high power light source in the near infrared spectrum to achieve safe and effective dermal heating, imparting a youthful glow to the skin. The pleasant treatment elevates dermal temperature, generates thermal injury to the tissue which contracts existing fibers, stimulates the formation of new collagen and improves its alignment and thickness.
Dye-SR Laser

Is DPL better than laser?
This entirely depends on your skin condition and goals for how you’d like your recovery to be. Many would argue that DPL is better because it can target the deepest layers without harming the top layer of skin, whereas lasers affect both, leading to a longer recovery time.
It’s really up to you and your technician to determine what the best course of action would be for your unique skin concerns.
How long does DPL take to heal?
The healing time for DPL is much shorter than for most laser skin treatments. Usually, you’ll be able to use makeup after treatment, so long as the application and washing off are gentle.
You may experience bruising that heals in a week or so as well as darker freckles or age spots that will lighten in a few days.
Ultimately, you are free to go about your days as normal with only special attention paid to being gentle to your skin following the treatments.
Treatment Outcomes
After the treatment, depending on your specific skin concerns treated, you can expect to have a more even skin tone, lighter freckles or dark marks, smoother skin texture, a brighter appearance, and fewer fine lines and reduced wrinkles. Basically, individual results may vary based on your specific treatment.

DPL is similar to a laser treatment. However, a laser focuses just one wavelength of light at our skin, while DPL releases light of many different wavelengths, like a photo flash. DPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), so it causes less damage to your skin. Pigment cells in our skin absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat reduce the unwanted pigment to clear up freckles and other spots. DPL can be used anywhere on body and fit the most of skin tones.
Reduces wrinkles/ fine lines

It depends on your treatment area and desired results. We recommend every 2-4 weeks between 4-6 sessions to see long-term improvement for most clients.
Before your DPL treatment, our technician will examine your skin and provide the FREE consultation. Please inform your technician if you have any skin conditions that might affect healing after your treatment, such as inflammatory acne or eczema. Your technician may recommend that you avoid certain activities, medications, and other products for two weeks prior your procedure.
- There is minimum downtime to DPL and you can resume normal activities immediately.
- However, you should avoid the following for 24 hours:
-Strenuous exercise
-Consumption of alcohol
-Scrubbing, rubbing, shaving or waxing the treatment area.
It is also recommended to avoid the following for two weeks:
-Direct exposure to sun or UV light
-Extended exposure to heat or freezing temperatures
-Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching. If you experience crusting on the treatment area you can apply a rescue balm or ice pack to aid with healing.
-We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 50+ should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every two hours.
Whilst we have seen amazing results from the treatment, please know that results do vary and we cannot make guarantees. We recommend coming and speaking to our clinic technicians for an in-depth consultation. They will discuss in detail how the treatment works, whether it will be right for your skin type and the expected results in line with your treatment goals.
